Gate Styles
Swing
Swing gates can be a great option for people who want little to do with their gate after installation. These gates are typically the most maintenance free type of gate you can find. They also offer an elegant, welcoming look that most other gate types lack. A double swing gate takes up less driveway space than a single, and puts less stress on the motor, and hinges, causing it to last longer.
Cantilever
Cantilever gates move in one direction, usually right along the fence line of an existing fence. Although a Cantilever gate is 50% larger than the gate opening, it has many advantages over a swing gate. They are safer, and less expensive than a double swing gate. Also, the path a Cantilever gate travels will be much easier to keep clear of snow and debris than a swing gate.
Slide
A slide gate consists of one wheel near the gate opening, on which the gate rests, and two wheels on the opposite side, that sit on separate pipes or “tracks”. These two wheels are responsible for the opening and closing of the gate. Unlike the cantilever gate, a slide gate is only the size of the gate opening, making it ideal for locations with limited space.
Vertical Lift
A vertical lift gate is the ultimate space saver. If you are in need of a gate, but don’t necessarily have the space for your gate to slide or swing open without hitting another object, what better way to go than up? While they may be more expensive, these gates are also a great solution when the terrain around a gate presents a challenge for a gate to swing or slide open.
