Swing gates are a popular choice among our residential and commercial customers around St. Louis looking for a solution to keep their property secure or to increase curb appeal. At Missouri Door and Dock we have years of experience installing and repairing swing gates. Swing gates are available as single and double units. Below we will breakdown advantages of each style. These gates allow the user to control the operations by use of the following push button, RFID tags and reader, loop detectors, remote control and can also be combined with other access controls systems as well.
SINGLE SWING GATE
Advantages: Only one gate opener is required as opposed to two with the double swing gate. There is also less hardware required as there is one less gate.
Disadvantages: Since all of the weight in a single swing gate is cantilevered off of a single post the entire system must be more heavy duty than a double swing gate. This applies to hardware, post, opener as well as the gate itself. A single swing gate will require twice the amount of space behind the gate in order for it to complete its travel properly when compared to a double swing gate.
DOUBLE SWING GATE
Double swing gates break up the span of the driveway or entrance in half with each gate covering its half of the space. These gates allow the user to control the operations by use of the following push button, RFID tags and reader, loop detectors remote control and can be combined with other access controls systems as well.
Advantages: Half the distance behind the gate is required for a double swing gate to open as opposed to a single swing gate. Double swing gates can accommodate a wider opening than a single swing gate. Double swing gates typically have a more time elegant look and are more aesthetically pleasing.
Disadvantages: Since there is two gates as opposed to one the material list is double that of a single swing gate. This includes posts, electrical, hardware and openers. Call us today at 314.795.3184 to discuss you swing gate needs.
